About Us

Our Story

Hello, we’re Tyler and Emily Chadwick—owners of Chadwick Family Homestead.

Our story begins in a small coastal community called Mill Creek, nestled on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. I (Tyler) grew up here, surrounded by a deep-rooted love for both the land and the sea. If I weren’t tending to animals, you’d find me in the garden.

My grandmother’s family made a living from the waters of Carteret County, while my grandfather’s family farmed the very land we now call home. This community has always meant the world to me, and I hope our children grow up feeling the same love and connection I’ve always felt here.

Emily, my wife, was born in Louisiana and moved to Morehead City when she was just two years old. Her roots stretch from the bayous of Louisiana to the hills of Virginia. We met in the summer of 2016, and from the moment we met, I knew she was the one. We now have two beautiful children and live together on the family farm here in Mill Creek. When we first met, Emily was very much a city girl. But today, you can find her most mornings out with the chickens, picking flowers, or tending to the dogs— she’s fallen in love with this life just as I have.

In 2018, I started Carolina Gold Oyster Company and poured everything I had into it for seven years. It grew into a successful business, but over time, it became something I never intended.

I found myself living to work, losing touch with the values and lifestyle I held close. I knew something had to change—not just for me, but for our family. After much prayer and reflection, we decided to return to our roots.

That decision led us to create Chadwick Family Homestead — a chance to slow down, reconnect with the land, and live with intention. This homestead is our way of going back 100 years to a simpler time, where food was grown with care, animals were raised with respect, and farming was done out of love, not for profit.

We believe in farming the way God intended. We aim to nurture our land, care for our animals, and serve our community with wholesome food and honest work. Chadwick Family Homestead is more than just a farm — it’s our way of helping others ground themselves again, just as we have.

Farmed with heart, just like it used to be. Welcome to our homestead—we’re glad you’re here.
